Former Sunderland target in talks to join recently promoted Hamburger SV | OneFootball

Sacha Tavolieri is reporting that Matija Frigan is in talks to join recently promoted Hamburger SV. The Croatian striker, who was previously a target for another newly promoted side in Sunderland, is in talks with the German side about a move from Westerlo. Frigan is, according to Tavolieri, keen on the move to the now Bundesliga side. As a result, he is near to agreeing personal terms and the next step will be for Hamburg and Westerlo to agree on a price.

The 22-year-old has had a mixed time in Belgium. At times, he has shown the signs of a striker capable of scoring plenty of goals, many of which are eye catching. However, he has also been inconsistent, going unnoticed during games as well. Should he depart for Germany this summer, Frigan will leave having made 72 appearances for Westerlo, scoring 19 goals. This season he did manage 14 goals in 41 games, matching his career best set in 2022/2023 with Rijeka. That season he managed to hit 14 goals in just 31 games.
