A one-time member of the midfield ranks at La Liga giants Real Madrid is all set for a return to Spanish football.
That’s according to transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, who points towards James Rodríguez as the player in question.
James, for his part, is fresh off something of a whirlwind summer in his native South America.
First, he was named Player of the Tournament, owing to his exploits in guiding Colombia to the finale of the Copa América.
Then, days later, confirmation was forthcoming that the one-time Bayern Munich and Everton man had reached a mutual agreement to terminate his contract with Brazilian giants São Paulo.
James’ decision came with a view to taking advantage of his Copa brilliance, to secure a return to Europe.
And, as alluded to above, if the latest word stemming from the media is anything to go by, this is precisely what the 33-year-old appears to have managed.
As per a report from Fabrizio Romano:
‘James Rodriguez [is] on the verge of joining Rayo Vallecano as official bid has been sent today. Contract until June 2025 plus [an] option for one more season.’
