Mohsni played 61 games for Rangers between 2013 and 2015 and the defender recently revealed he has been without a club since leaving Dundee United at the end of last season.
He took Tunisian club ES Sahel to court after they gave him a three-year contract in 2016 but binned him after just one game.
The case went to the Court of Arbitration for Sport in Switzerland, who ordered the club to pay Mohsni 2.1 million dinars – around £570,000.
Sahel sporting director Ghazi Ben Othmane said: “The club’s board received a letter on Wednesday imposing this fine.
“We are in the process of considering the decision.”
But if they don’t pay up quickly, the Sousse-based outfit could face a transfer embargo and a ban from Africa’s Confederations Cup.
As well as Rangers, Dundee and Sahel, Mohsni lists such clubs as Ipswich Town and Southend United among his long list of former employers. He has been capped nine times by the Tunisian national team.
During his time at Ibrox, he was handed a seven-match ban following a violent clash with Motherwell’s Lee Erwin.
