Stade de Reims had made it clear earlier in January that they would not look to be strengthening during the current transfer window but it now looks like the club will have a busy deadline day.

Following a deal for Sergio Akieme (26) announced this morning, there have been rumours that Reims will once again dip into the market as they look to pick up former Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Benjamin Stambouli (33) who has terminated his contract with Turkish club Adana Demirspor.

A return to Ligue 1 for Benjamin Stambouli

According to Fabrice Hawkins, Reims will look to capitalise on this situation with the player currently en route to the club where he is expected to complete a medical later today. Stambouli will be offered a short-term contract as the Les Rouges et Blancs hope to bolster their squad before a late-season push for a European place.

Reims currently sit in sixth place just outside the European spots, and under manager Will Still there is a strong chance that the former European Cup finalists may once again be back.
