Former PSG forward Jesé announces surprising move to Malaysian league | OneFootball

Former Paris Saint-Germain striker Jesé Rodríguez (31) has announced his surprising decision to join Johor Darul Ta’zim who play in the Malaysia Super League.

The Spanish striker made his professional debut in 2011 for Real Madrid where he played until 2016 earning a league title, a Copa del Rey, and two Champions League trophies. In 2016, Jesé left his formative club for PSG in a financially lucrative deal.

Despite only ever making 12 appearances for Les Parisiens across his four-year stay, Jesé was on a contract that earned him €420k per month. His time in the French capital was punctuated by four loans where he played for Las Palmas, Stoke City, Real Betis, and Sporting CP, and his extracurricular activities (like being in a reality TV show in Spain and developing a music agency for “misunderstood artists”).

Jesé’s varied footballing journey continues

In 2020, Jesé and PSG agreed to mutually terminate his contract allowing the forward to return to Las Palmas. After two seasons with the Segunda division team, he moved to Turkey with Ankaragücü before joining Sampdoria and eventually Brazilian club Coritiba. Since January the 1st 2024, Jesé has been a free agent.
