The League Manager’s Association have announced the sad passing of Glenn Roeder at the age of 65.
The former defender, who enjoyed a 20-year playing career, had been sick for some time in battling a brain tumour.
During his managerial tenure, he oversaw Watford, West Ham, Newcastle and Norwich after starting out at Gillingham and was most recently in advisory roles at Sheffield Wednesday and Stevenage.
Paying tribute to Roeder, LMA chairman Howard Wilkinson hailed him for his achievements as both a player and manager.
“A cultured defender as a player, he managed with a studious style and was always generous with his time and ideas,” read a statement.
“Glenn was such an unassuming, kind gentleman who demonstrated lifelong dedication to the game.”
In addition, he also served as a coach with the England national team under Glenn Hoddle.
