Former Parma midfielder Jorge Bolaño has died of cardiac arrest in Colombia, aged 47.
Ex-Serie A midfielder Bolaño sadly passed away on Sunday, aged 47, due to a cardiac arrest.
Gazzetta and other Italian media report that Bolaño was attending the birthday party of a relative when he suffered a sudden heart attack.
Born on April 28, 1997, in Santa Marta, Bolaño won the Supercoppa Italiana and the Coppa Italia with Parma. He had also played for Modena, Lecce and Sampdoria between 1999 and 2009.
The former midfielder made 102 appearances in Serie A and 53 in Serie B, scoring two goals in Italy’s second division.
Parma paid tribute to their former midfielder on social media.
“Today, the whole of Parma Calcio extends condolences to the family of Jorge Bolaño, who has passed away at 47 years old, leaving an irreplaceable void. Goodbye, Jorge. Forever Gialloblu,” the Serie A side said.
A former Junior de Barranquilla midfielder, Bolaño won the Colombian domestic title in 1993 and 1995, sharing the dressing room with Carlos Valderrama and Iván René Valenciano.
He also scored one goal in 36 appearances with the Colombia national team, featuring in the 1998 World Cup.
