According to Foot Mercato, the former Olympique Lyonnais manager Rudi Garcia is set to take over Saudi Arabian side Al-Nassr, signing on a two-year deal. The former Roma, Lyon, and Marseille man arrives to the Saudi Premier League after a year out of the game – and will reportedly earn a salary of €5.6m per year.
At Lyon, Garcia led the club’s famous 2019/20 Champions League campaign which resulted in a semi-final spot after taking the scalps of both Juventus and Manchester City along the way, losing to eventual champions Bayern Munich. However, after missing out on a Champions League spot in the 2020/21 season Garcia was sacked and replaced with current manager Peter Bosz.
The 58 year-old will replace Miguel Ángel Russo who guided Al-Nassr to a 3rd place finish in the Saudi Premier League last season, with the Argentinian’s current contract expiring next week on 30th June 2022.
