Former Newcastle United defender Craig Moore has revealed just how good Toon legend Alan Shearer was – even on the training ground.
Moore played 31 times for the club between 2005 and 2007, including in Shearer’s last appearance – a 4-1 win over Sunderland.
The 44-year-old was reflecting on his time on Tyneside in an interview with Optus Sport and had a tale or two about Shearer, who scored 182 goals in 374 appearances for Newcastle.
“Shearer just had an aura and a presence about him.
“He was such a well respected figure, especially in Newcastle.
“I remember one time when Glenn Roeder called us in for a team meeting and someone laced the ball up in the air.
“Shearer was at the bottom of it and stunned it. It was one of those moments that was brilliant.
“He had a cheeky little grin, had a little wink at me and that was what he was all about.”
