Louis Saha thinks Jadon Sancho can come back into form just like Marcus Rashford this season.

Jadon Sancho has not had it easy since his 2021 transfer to Manchester United and the winner has not featured in a competitive game since October last year.

The 22-year-old has gone from being one of the most exciting youngsters in Europe at Borussia Dortmund to a squad player at Manchester United. It’s a big step up and I think Erik ten Hag was right to show patience with him in recent months.

Sancho has made 14 appearances under Ten Hag this season – scoring three goals and assisting one — and Saha thinks the England international can be very ‘helpful’ as United push to finish the season in strong fashion.

Speaking to Betfred, Saha said: “Yes, I believe he can still be very helpful. He needs to build up his confidence and Erik ten Hag will want to get Jadon in a position where he can help his team. It’s nice to see that the club are taking their time and taking care of the player. It would be great to see Jadon get his confidence back because he has a duty and hopefully he will be fully motivated when he does get his opportunities.

“We’ve seen Marcus Rashford come back into form and Jadon is capable of following suit. It’s all about believing and he just needs to take it game by game and enjoy himself again. The pressure is always going to be there, so he just needs to take it game by game. If a kid like [Alejandro] Garnacho can do it, then I’m sure Sancho can do it too.”

Sancho returned to first team training last week but Ten Hag has yet to reveal when he plans to give him a taste of competitive action again. It would also benefit Antony to have someone competing for his place on the right flank.
