With the transfer window now in full swing, teams across Europe are keen to make additions to their respective squads for the upcoming season.
Former Manchester United winger Nani is one of those players to have found pastures new, signing for Portuguese side Estrela de Amadora.
As reported by A BOLA, the 37-year-old has signed a one-year-deal with the Primeira Liga outfit.
Estrela finished 13th last time out and Nani will hope to help them push up the table and steer clear of a relegation battle this time around.
It’s somewhat of a fairytale transfer for the winger who was born in Amadora before making his name at Sporting Lisbon.
This will be Nani’s 10th club in a remarkable career that has seen him travel far and wide to ply his trade.
From Manchester to Melbourne with stints in Spain, Italy, Turkey and the U.S in between, the wide-man is now going back to his roots in what will likely be his last move as a player.
Nani and a group of investors have recently acquired a majority stake in Portuguese fourth-division side SU Sintrense who are based not far from Amadora, making the deal even more special.
Having chalked up over 100 caps for Portugal and winning multiple honours throughout his career, the attacker’s experience will be vital on and off the pitch for his new club.
Nani played 230 times for United, scoring 41 goals which included some wonderful strikes that will live long in the memory.
Although primarily a left winger, Nani has played over 100 times on the right flank and in his prime he would certainly fancy his chances of holding down United’s right hand side in the current squad, with Erik ten Hag still looking for an answer to the right flank conundrum that has plagued the club in recent years.
Amad Diallo produced another strong pre-season display in the 3-2 win against Real Betis and looks to have moved above Antony in pecking order for the position at present.
