The Lady Black Cats announced news of the transfer via an update on their official club website this afternoon.
McPartlan came through the youth ranks at Manchester City and she went on to captain the club’s Under-19 side to success in the WSL Development League and FA WSL Development League Cup. The midfielder then moved to the United States where she turned out for the South Alabama Jaguars and the Louisiana State University Tigers.
On the international stage, McPartlan has represented Northern Ireland up to and including Under-19 level while she was briefly called into the senior squad in 2018 for the nation’s FIFA Women’s World Cup France 2019 qualification campaign, although she continues to await her debut.
McPartlan is a player with lots of potential and she will be hoping to impress during her time with Sunderland.
After securing her move to Wearside, McPartlan said “I’m so excited to play for Sunderland and I’m excited for the second half of the season and to push on with this great team.”
McPartlan will wear the number 28 shirt for her new club. It is unclear whether she will be available for selection when Sunderland travel to London City Lionesses this weekend.
