Former Manchester United and France star Louis Saha has hit out at the footballing authorities for failing to protect footballers since the pandemic hit.

The unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic meant that football was put on a three-month hold last year which resulted in a congested fixture schedule, putting the health of players and staff at risk.

The 2020/21 footballing season was played without pre-season, no winter breaks, an additional set of international games, and with one less month of preparation going into the campaign.

The congested fixture list got so bad for Manchester United towards the end of the season that Solskjaer’s side had to play three Premier League games in five days just days before the Europa League final.

Former Manchester United forward Louis Saha has hit out at UEFA and the Premier League for failing to protect players in an already demanding season.

“After a pandemic where there’s a lot of restrictions and the calendar is horrible for everybody,” Saha told gamblingdeals.com.

“I’m a fan, but I seem to see United playing every two days. I was like ‘hang on a minute, what’s going on?’ – it was just ridiculous. UEFA and the [Premier] League have not protected the players, I don’t understand. They’ve protected the competitions, way more than the players.”

Saha is now developing Axis Stars, a platform designed for professional athletes to voice a unified opinion against unjust from governing bodies and authorities.
