Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has reacted to Marcus Rashford’s potential exit.
Rashford made a landslide announcement that he is willing to try a new challenge elsewhere.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Ferdinand said: “When this kid [Rashford] came onto the scene, he was an absolute breath of fresh air. He was a joke.
“The body language when he came in was what every fan saw themselves being if they came in, and that’s been the biggest killer for me.
“His body language for the last three years hasn’t been what a Man Utd fan sees themselves being like in a Man Utd shirt at Old Trafford when a goal goes in.”
Ferdinand knows what it means to play for the Red Devils. He won several trophies in his 12-year stay, including the coveted Champions League in 2008.
Rashford rose through the ranks at United and has spent almost two decades with the club.
The 27-year-old could be looking for a lucrative five-year deal at a new club.
Unfortunately for him, he has been part of an underwhelming decade of United’s history.
He has enjoyed some special moments, including scoring the winning penalty against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League.
There are several reasons why he was not able to meet his sky-high potential at United.
For all his potential, it’s his body language and inability to maintain consistent performances that have prevented him from truly fulfilling his promise as one of the world’s top forwards.
