Brandon Williams is edging closer to a long-awaited return to professional football, with multiple clubs now showing interest in the former Manchester United full-back. As The Daily Mail reported, “Brandon Williams is being chased by clubs in the Championship and overseas,” after an impressive trial period at Hull City.
The 24-year-old has been out of contract since his release from Old Trafford, where he made his debut at just 19. For a player once tipped as a future England international, the past year has been a dramatic fall from grace. But now, after showcasing his fitness and attitude during pre-season, Williams appears to be forcing his way back into the conversation.
Hull City are reportedly set to offer him a deal, following eye-catching substitute appearances against Getafe and Sunderland. His performances have been solid, and according to Mail Sport, “his attitude and form during a short spell at the MKM Stadium has alerted others,” with further interest emerging from both Championship rivals and clubs abroad.

Williams’ return comes against a difficult personal backdrop. Earlier this year, he received a suspended jail sentence for a 99mph car crash, having pleaded guilty to charges of dangerous driving and driving without insurance. The incident, widely covered at the time, raised concerns about his future in the game.
To his credit, Williams admitted his mistakes and publicly expressed a desire to rebuild his career. That process now appears to be gathering momentum. A player who once stood toe-to-toe with Liverpool and Chelsea as a teenager is now working his way back from the bottom.
The appeal is clear. Williams is still only 24, with over 20 Premier League appearances to his name and two full loan spells at Norwich City and Ipswich Town. His versatility on either flank and fearless approach in one-on-one duels make him an asset for teams that value aggression and energy in their defensive units.
While his form dipped during his time on loan, those who watched him closely will recall flashes of tenacity and athleticism. For a club like Hull, who are building a team with ambition and balance, he could represent a high-upside, low-risk signing.

Should other clubs follow through on their interest, it may become a case of which manager is best able to reintegrate Williams into a high-pressure environment. The potential is still there, but structure and support off the pitch will be as important as the tactics on it.
There is no doubt that this next move is a crucial one. Williams has a chance to take control of a career that once seemed destined for the top. Whether that road leads back to the Premier League or finds consistency in the Championship remains to be seen.
The willingness of Hull City to offer him a contract signals belief in both his ability and his mindset. That interest from overseas clubs adds another dimension. For Williams, the decision now is not just about football. It is about maturity, responsibility and seizing the opportunity to rewrite his story.
