Bristol City have completed the signing of former London City Lionesses goalkeeper Shae Yanez.

The Robins announced the news via a post on their official club website this evening.

Yanez joins Bristol City after most recently playing her football in the American National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) with San Diego Wave. The player made four appearances for Wave in the NWSL in 2023.

The 26-year-old is best known for her three-season spell at London City Lionesses. Yanez was an ever-present for The Pride during her time with the club, making 63 Barclays Women’s Championship appearances in total.

Yanez will now test herself in the English top flight for the first time with new club Bristol City.

After completing her move to Ashton Gate, Yanez said “I’m super-excited to be here and I’m really looking forward to getting started. I’m glad we could get the deal done because it’s always been a dream to play in this league.

“I made the choice to go back to America but fortunately, I’ve been given the opportunity to come to the Super League and fulfil that dream of mine.”

Yanez will compete for the number one jersey alongside Fran Bentley and Olivia Clark during her time with Bristol City.
