Thiago Alcantara was an unsung hero in Hansi Flick’s coaching staff last summer.

After putting an end to his life at Liverpool, the Spanish midfielder joined Flick’s coaching staff to help out with the transition.

Despite his rather short spell, Thiago played a key role in the dressing room and helped players get used to Flick’s tactical setup.

Thiago may rejoin Barcelona setup

According to Diario SPORT, the door remains open for Thiago Alcantara to return to the FC Barcelona dugout.

Thiago’s bond with Flick, forged during their time in Germany, led him to volunteer his support without any financial reward.

Players reportedly respected his voice in the dressing room, many of them having grown up watching him or even trained alongside him during his first spell at the club.

Flick and Thiago stayed in touch throughout the season, and the 33-year-old was even invited to a private celebration in Formentera after Barcelona’s solid campaign.

However, before any official role can be offered, Thiago must complete his coaching license, which he’s currently pursuing in a special program for former internationals in Las Rozas.

While nothing is set in stone, all signs suggest both parties are open to reuniting. Flick is believed to be keen on having Thiago formally on staff, but for now, the situation remains in a holding pattern.

If everything lines up, we could see the elegant midfielder back on the sidelines soon, this time in a more permanent role.

Thiago’s return could go a long way in further boosting the morale inside the Barcelona dressing room, whilst helping the club potentially groom the former midfielder into a future coaching role.
