Former Liverpool midfielder Ashley Hodson has joined Barclays Women’s Championship club Sheffield United on a free transfer.

Last season saw Hodson go out on loan. The player joined Birmingham City and helped the club to mount a promotion challenge in the Barclays Women’s Championship. She will be hoping to enjoy another successful campaign in the second tier with latest club Sheffield United.

After securing her move to Bramall Lane, Hodson said “I’m really excited. I can’t wait to get going for the new season and to look forward to pre-season now, I can’t wait to get going.

“I think my experiences in the past and two years in this league; I think I can bring a lot to this team and hopefully help the other players and help some of the younger ones develop. I saw how well Jonno (Morgan) did with the team at the end of last season, I thought that was really impressive and I had a great conversation with him.”

Hodson becomes Sheffield United’s fourth signing of the summer transfer window.
