AS Monaco are closing in on deal to sign Jordan Henderson from Dutch side Ajax.
Henderson has agreed terms with the French side on an 18-month contract and is close to completing a transfer to Ligue 1. The 34-year-old has been a regular with Ajax this season and has contributed four assists in 17 league appearances.
Henderson signed for Ajax from Al-Ettifaq last January after a short-lived six-month spell in the Saudi Pro League. The England international was criticised for his decision to move to the SPL after ending a decorated 12-year career at Liverpool.
During his time at Anfield, Henderson made 492 appearances in all competitions and captained the club following the departure of Steven Gerrard. He led the Reds to several major trophies, including the 2019 Champions League and a drought-breaking Premier League title in 2020.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Henderson will join a Monaco side who sit third in French football. The principality club have also secured progress in the Champions League and will take on either Paris Saint-Germain or Benfica in the playoff round.
