Former Leeds star gave "good first impression" to help Nmecha decision | OneFootball

Lukas Nmecha has spoken of how his decision to join Leeds United was influenced by a strong recommendation from a former Wolfsburg teammate.

The 26 year old agreed to join the Whites on the 1st July, having spent four seasons with the Bundesliga side, during which time, the forward played alongside an Elland Road favourite.

Talking exclusively to the club's media channel LUTV, Nmecha discussed how he spoke to midfielder Josuha Guilavogui, who recently departed the club, after helping Leeds win promotion and lift the Championship trophy.

Asked why he chose Leeds as the next step on his journey, Nmecha said "I've got some people that have been here, like Joss, who I've played with and he told me about the atmosphere and the fans.

"I trust Joss. He's one of the nicest guys in football. He said it's a massive club and if I get the opportunity, I should definitely do it. He said the fans are crazy and the boys are great as well. So yeah, he gave a really good first impression.

Guilavogui was also one of the first people to congratulate his friend on agreeing to join Leeds, replying to an X post with "Welcome to the MOT family", much to the delight of fans, who are hoping to welcome the French star back to Elland Road next season as a fan.
