Former Lazio Midfielder Dario Marcolin: “Inter Milan Showed The Right Attitude & Couldn’t Do Much More In Win Over Cremonese, But Quality Was Lacking” | OneFootball

Former Lazio and Napoli midfielder Dario Marcolin felt that Inter were worthy winners in their 2-1 victory over Cremonese yesterday, but still lacked quality.

The Nerazzurri came from behind against Serie A’s bottom club at the Stadio Giovanni Zini, with Lautaro Martinez netting a brace, but wasted numerous chances on goal, after having 30 shots in the match but only finding the back of the net twice.

Appearing as a pundit on Italian television broadcaster DAZN yesterday, and as reported by FCInterNews.it, Marcolin argued that Inter’s victory had come through strength of character rather than of sheer ability on the pitch, but was impressed with their mentality.

“Inter could not do more than that. They found it difficult, but the numbers say they tried until the end,” the ex-Inter assistant coach claimed.

The determination was there, it’s obvious that they had a solid Cremonese side in front of them.

“Ttoday was a victory of character and attitude, they didn’t have great quality but the attitude of those who wanted to win,” he concluded.

Inter bounced back from a 1-0 defeat to Empoli last week, and must now turn their attention to the Coppa Italia when they face Atalanta on Tuesday.

Marcolin made 70 appearances for Lazio from 1992 until 2000, winning the Serie A title and the Coppa Italia.

The midfielder began his career at Cremonese before joining Lazio, and had loan spells with Cagliari, Genoa, and Blackburn Rovers during his time with the capital club.
