Former Juventus captain Juan Cuadrado signs for Inter Milan | OneFootball

Inter Milan have announced the signing of former Juventus star Juan Cuadrado on a free transfer.

The Colombian’s contract with the Bianconeri ended this summer, and he could negotiate with other clubs.

Inter manager Simone Inzaghi likes the 35-year-old, and his extensive Serie A experience will be vital heading into the new season.

However, the fans are not as enthused as their manager. They held up a banner questioning where Cuadrado’s loyalties lie. He has been involved in altercations with Inter players in the past.

The fans will have to set their feelings aside as Cuadrado has signed a one-year contract with the Coppa Italia champions, earning a salary worth €2.5 million plus bonuses.

The pacy winger will replace Raoul Bellanova. His loan deal expired last month, and he has signed with Torino.

Cuadrado began his journey into football at 13, joining Atletico Uraba’s youth set-up. He played as a striker and became the team’s leading scorer.

The club’s founder, Nelson Gallego, suggested a change of position and he moved to the wings.

Cuadrado made his professional debut at Independiente Medellin before moving to Italy.

He played 24 matches in two years for Udinese, helping the Friulani achieve a historic Champions League qualification in his second season.

Cuadrado improved significantly and signed for Lecce in 2011. He excelled there and caught the eye of Fiorentina.

The Colombian spent two and a half seasons in Florence before heading to London to join Chelsea. He won the League Cup and Premier League in the 2014/15 season.

Cuadrado moved to Juventus in 2015 and went on to win eleven trophies in eight years. He captained the Turin club but will play against them next season.

He is the fifth Colombian to play for Inter. He has won 115 caps for his country, with only David Ospina ahead of him in their all-time appearance list.
