Arsenal currently sit top of the Premier League, one point ahead of Liverpool, who have a game in hand. With just one point separating the top three ahead of the final sprint, the title race is wide open. Former Gunnes Folarin Balogun (22) now at AS Monaco, has given his support to his formative club.

Whilst Balogun’s focus is firmly on securing UEFA Champions League qualification for next season, the USMNT forward did, however, spare a thought for Arsenal when talking to Get French Football News during Monaco’s Kid’s Tour event in Villefranche-sur-Mer on Wednesday.

“I give them my support [in the title race]. I still speak with a lot of them and when I’m in London we still go out for food,” began Balogun, who left Arsenal in a big-money move at the start of the season. “There is a good relationship there. I have also asked them about their experience playing in the Champions League having been out of it for so long and they’ve said that it is something that you would want to experience and something that is almost a once-in-a-lifetime experience so I’m looking forward to hopefully being a part of it. It’s amazing that I have the opportunity with Monaco,” he added.

Should Monaco qualify for the Champions League, Balogun may get the chance to face his former club, and he will be hoping to do so after Arsenal are crowned Premier League champions.
