Ringo Meerveld still wants to move up a level this summer, according to VoetbalPrimeur and the Brabants Dagblad. He confirmed this to the latter outlet after a Willem II friendly. However, Meerveld also stated that nothing is concrete yet.
Following a friendly against a combined team of players from the region, Meerveld spoke about his future in Tilburg. “My agents and I are looking into what the best move would be. There’s nothing concrete right now, maybe there will be news later, when I check my phone. The most important thing is that my feeling has to be right, the plan has to be sound. But I still want to move up, yes.”
Meerveld has been a topic of conversation at various clubs for some time now. He’s already been linked with Feyenoord, and now FC Twente is reportedly involved.
“I don’t want to make a hasty decision. I’m certainly not disappointed that I’m still at Willem II, but the chance of me staying is, of course, very slim.”
The 22-year-old Meerveld made a strong impression at Willem II last season. Despite relegation, in 39 official matches, he scored six goals and provided four assists. Meerveld’s contract runs until the summer of 2026.
