Over the summer, Thorgan Hazard left the Bundesliga permanently. After spending the second half of the 2022/2023 season on loan at PSV, he returned to the low countries and joined Anderlecht. However, his time in Brussels began slowly, with injuries limiting his initial game time. Yet in recent weeks, the 30-year-old is starting to rediscover his best form.
Since scoring his first Pro League goal for the club against league leaders Union St Gilloise, Hazard has gone on to score another two goals and grab an assist in the following four games. At the weekend, Hazard’s goal got Anderlecht level against Sint-Truiden, triggering a crazy five minutes that saw the side race into a 3-1 lead.
Anderlecht remain the closest challengers to their city rivals Union. Anderlecht have won 15 of their 26 games and sit on 54 points, eight points behind Union. Anderlecht have a chance to prove their title credentials when they face Club Brugge next weekend. They will be hoping that Hazard will continue his fine form.
