Former Charlton Athletic forward Angela Addison has completed a surprise move to FA Women’s National League Southern Premier Division club Ipswich Town.

The Tractor Girls announced news of Addison’s capture via a post on their official club website this afternoon.

Addison joins Ipswich Town after leaving former club Charlton Athletic at the end of last season.

The 24-year-old has been a solid performer in the elite game over the last six seasons. Addison helped Tottenham Hotspur win promotion to the Barclays Women’s Super League in 2018/2019 and she represented the club in the top flight for three successive seasons. The attacker has spent the last two seasons back in the Barclays Women’s Championship with Charlton Athletic. Addison scored five goals in 42 league outings for The Addicks.

Addison could do a good job for any club in the Barclays Women’s Championship, however, she has opted to join third tier side Ipswich Town ahead of the new season.

After bringing Addison to Ipswich Town, manager Joe Sheehan said “We’re excited to have been able to bring Angela to the Club.

“She is a player we’ve known about for several years and is someone we feel will bring real experience and ability to our squad, while being an exciting, attacking player who can contribute both goals and assists.”

Addison has become Ipswich Town’s first summer signing.
