Former Celtic winger Lewis Morgan attracting interest from English clubs

Former Celtic winger Lewis Morgan is subject to interest from two English Championship clubs as he looks to make a move away from the USA. Morgan was signed for $1.5m but the player is keen on making a move back nearer home and Huddersfield and Millwall are keen on the versatile attacker.

According to 90 Min, the clubs have had £750k bids rejected as New York Red Bull try and keep hold of their attacker. Although the player has made his views clear about making the move. Morgan’s career has been very mixed to say the least. He left Celtic appearing to have dipped out of form but the move Stateside has reinvigorated the player.

Signed by Brendan Rodgers in January 2018, Morgan was loaned back to St Mirren before a move to Sunderland and then finally merited some action under Neil Lennon. Morgan started the 2019 League Cup Final but was replaced by Odsonne Edouard – who won the free-kick that resulted in Jullien’s goal.

He didn’t seem to be at the level required to make a lasting impact at Celtic but he seems to have taken well to life in the United States of America. His work rate was always an impressive feature and if he had scored more goals like this during his time at Celtic, things may have been different for him.

You would expect him to make a move back to the UK after his time in the MLS.
