Sven Claes is reporting that Lommel are set to appoint Lee Johnson as their new head coach. The club, who are part of the City Group, are in a relegation battle in the second tier of the Belgian football system. They have been without a permanent head coach since former Arsenal man Steve Bould left the club. Johnson, who has been working within the City Group since being sacked by Fleetwood in December of 2023, will now take over with the task to keep them up.

Johnson is certainly a surprising appointment for the Challenger Pro League side. He has spent all of his time in the English and Scottish footballing systems, both as a player and as a head coach. During his playing days he spent time with Yeovil, Bristol City, Chesterfield and finally Kilmarnock. His first job as a head coach was with Oldham, before he had spells with Barnsley, Bristol City and Sunderland. He then had a controversial time in Scotland with Hibs, where fans really did turn on him during his tenure. His most recent job was a short spell with Fleetwood.
