The name of German tactician Klopp has of course taken its place front and centre in the headlines in Catalunya over the last 24 hours.

This comes amid widespread speculation that the one-time Borussia Dortmund boss has made his way onto the managerial shortlist of the powers that be at Barcelona.

Blaugrana chief Joan Laporta, in particular, is understood to be a keen believer in Klopp’s talents.

Though the 56-year-old has himself insisted that he intends to take a break from the game next season, Barca are in turn expected to make a play for his services.

One individual, however, of the opinion that such a move would mark a mistake on Barca’s part, comes in the form of the aforementioned Marc Crosas.

Taking to his official X account on Sunday, Crosas, who was on the books at the Camp Nou from 2002 to 2007, played down Klopp’s achievements whilst in England.

Going as far as to insinuate that the Liverpool icon would mark a step down from the outbound Xavi, he wrote:

‘Today they praise Klopp and ask for him for Barça. In 9 years, Klopp has won a Premier and a Champions League (plus national cups), adding 6 blank seasons. In his first 3 seasons he didn’t win anything. Xavi has been there for just over 2 years and is the current La Liga champion.’
