As Barcelona scramble to sign another forward by the end of August, the club have been linked with a series of top attackers over the past few weeks.

While Nico Williams has certainly dominated headlines, the club have been open to other opportunities in the market. One such option was Joao Felix, the Atletico Madrid star who played for Barcelona on loan last season.

A recent twist in Felix’s saga saw the Portuguese international being registered by Atletico Madrid, which virtually ended hopes of a potential Barcelona return.

Felix rules out Barcelona return

Now, in yet another update from COPE, it is being suggested that Felix himself has ruled out a return to Barcelona.

It appears the Atletico Madrid forward is not too keen on returning to reduced wages at Barça and would, therefore, not like to return to Catalonia.

This may come as a blessing in disguise for Barcelona, though, as Felix never truly managed to establish himself during his time at the club.

Despite showing glimpses of his potential, Felix lacked the consistency to truly make an impact in Catalonia.

Although Felix was rated highly by new coach Hansi Flick, the forward might have found it difficult to compete with the likes of Robert Lewandowski, Lamine Yamal and Dani Olmo in the Barcelona frontline this season.

That said, the Catalans may still require fresh reinforcements in the attacking unit, especially considering their limited numbers out wide, coupled with Ferran Torres and Raphinha’s iffy form.

The coming few weeks, therefore, could prove to be crucial as the Blaugrana look to shore up their ranks in the offensive unit.
