The Austrian Football Association, the OFB, announced the news via a post on their official website this morning.
Schnaderbeck has struggled with troublesome injuries in recent seasons and it is now thought that she could pursue a career away from the game.
The defender arrived in England in 2018 and she went on to win the Barclays Women’s Super League title in her very first season with Arsenal. Schnaderbeck represented The Gunners on 23 occasions in the Barclays Women’s Super League before spending the second half of last season on loan at their North London rivals Spurs. The player was released by Arsenal at the end of last season.
Schnaderbeck was a member of the Austrian side which battled bravely to reach the quarter-finals of the UEFA Women’s EURO 2022 before exiting the competition at the hands of Germany.
Speaking after announcing her retirement, Schnaderbeck said “It’s not easy, a very emotional day. The decision to end my career has matured in me over the last few months and I made it before the end of the season. My feeling simply told me that it was the is the right time.”
Schnaderbeck will officially end her career after next month’s FIFA Women’s World Cup Australia and New Zealand 2023 qualifier against England.
