Former Arsenal and Chelsea midfielder Gemma Davison has joined Watford according to reports on The Golden Girls’ official website.

The 34-year-old was a free agent after recently leaving Barclays FA Women’s Super League club Aston Villa at the end of her short term deal.

Davison has enjoyed an impressive career which has seen her represent Arsenal in four spells along with the likes of Liverpool and Chelsea. The player has also played in the United States while on the international stage she has been capped by England on 16 occasions. Davison returns to the club where she spent her early years as a youth.

After completing her Watford return, Davison told the club’s official media team “It’s good to be back. It’s where I started as a youth player so let’s see what the journey brings.

“I’ve had some great memories of being with Watford and we were always dominant when I was younger, so hopefully I can bring that dominance back to the club.”

Davison becomes the second new signing announced at Watford in the last 24 hours. The club also acquired the services of former London Bees, Crystal Palace and Coventry United midfielder Andria Georgiou yesterday. Both players will go straight into the squad for this afternoon’s FA Women’s Championship fixture against London City Lionesses at Vicarage Road.
