Forgotten Chelsea star could be handed exit route as Saudi clubs make approach

Alfie Gilchrist is set to leave Chelsea this summer, and clubs from Saudi Arabia have already made an approach according to Ben Jacobs.
Gilchrist is a product of Chelsea’s famed Cobham academy and made his first team debut in the 2023/2024 season under Mauricio Pochettino.
The 21-year-old impressed as he made 11 appearances in the Premier League, and 17 in all competitions, whilst he scored his first goal in a 6-0 win against Everton at Stamford Bridge.
Despite impressing under Pochettino the decision was taken to send Gilchrist on loan last season, and he joined Championship outfit Sheffield United.
The centre back, who can also play right back made 32 appearances in all competitions as the Blades missed out on promotion back to the Premier League.

Gilchrist is one of a number of players who’s expected to leave Chelsea, and Jacobs has provided an update on his future.
He took to X.com and said:
“Alfie Gilchrist set to leave Chelsea this summer with multiple Championship clubs interested.
“Saudi clubs have also made an approach with Gilchrist viewed as a strong profile fit by Saudi Pro League officials.”
Gilchrist was named Chelsea Academy Player of the Year in 2024, but it seems his career at the club is now over, and it will be interesting to see what his next move is.
Gilchrist won’t be the only defender to leave the club this summer, with Axel Disasi and Renato Veiga both lined up for exits.
