A one-time Barcelona head coach has on Tuesday confirmed that that he is still owed one financial payoff by the powers that be at the Camp Nou.

The tactician in question? Quique Setién.

Spaniard Setién for his part took his place on the bench in Catalunya’s capital back in 2020.

Fresh off a fruitful spell at the helm at Real Betis, the now-65-year-old was afforded his first opportunity with one of Spanish football’s top clubs.

Setién’s Barca stint, however, ultimately lasted just eight months, with the ex-midfielder having been sent on his way in August of 2020 on the back of an 8-2 Champions League humiliation at the hands of Bayern Munich.

And yet, as alluded to above, a full four years on, Setién is yet to be fully paid off by his one-time employers.

Speaking in an interview with Cadena SER on Tuesday, the Spaniard was drawn on the monetary details of his Camp Nou firing.

And Setién, as cited by Mundo Deportivo, went on to explain that:

“I have not yet finished receiving the money from Barça, but I still have a deadline that expires at the end of this month, four years later.”
