Nottingham Forest got their pre-season preparations underway with victory over local rivals Notts County at Meadow Lane.

Forest were without Brennan Johnson with a groin issue and perhaps missed his cutting edge in a goal-less first half, with Brandon Aguilera’s performance catching the eye.

Steve Cooper’s side were instantly improved after the break and took the lead swiftly through Hwang Ui-jo, who capitalised on a mix-up at the back to steer his side into the lead with his first goal for the club.

Prior to the game, it was also confirmed that Morgan Gibbs-White and Jonjo Shelvey will not travel to Spain for Forest’s warm weather camp, with the former being permitted extra rest after his U20 European Championship win, while the latter is available for transfer.
