Fans are as confident as ever that Paris Saint-Germain will make the UEFA Champions League final next week.
L’Équipe reports that in a poll, conducted by the Odoka Institute for RTL and Winamax between April 30 and May 1, most people believe that Luis Enrique’s men will maintain their narrow advantage over Arsenal at the Parc des Princes on Wednesday.
Les Parisiens won the opening leg in North London 1-0, thanks to an early goal from Ousmane Dembélé (27). According to the poll, 69% of supporters believe that PSG will advance into the final for the first time since 2020.
PSG have never emerged victorious from a two-leg Champions League semi-final tie before, with their only win at this stage of the competition before last week being in a one-game showdown against RB Leipzig in August 2020 (3-0).
The Ligue 1 champions have never won a Champions League semi-final match on home soil. They lost 2-1 to Manchester City in 2021 and suffered a 1-0 defeat in the French capital against Borussia Dortmund at that stage a season ago.
According to that survey, six of 10 French people followed or heard the opening leg match between PSG and Arsenal. Of the football fans polled, 76% were satisfied with the combativeness of the PSG players in the game, 75% were pleased with Luis Enrique’s tactics, 74% were satisfied with the team’s technical level, and 71% were happy with the quality of the game.
PSG have won five of their previous seven knockout matches away from home in this competition but lost their last knockout fixture in the Champions League at the Parc des Princes versus Liverpool this year (1-0).
