Milan coach Paulo Fonseca confirms Yunus Musah has brought ‘balance and defensive security’ to the team, as he starts in tonight’s trip to Atalanta.
It kicks off at the Gewiss Stadium in Bergamo at 19.45 GMT.
The Rossoneri have found their feet in recent matches, winning three in a row between the Champions League, Serie A and Coppa Italia, including Tuesday’s 6-1 victory over Sassuolo.
“We have to defend well, as a team like Atalanta creates a great deal and is strong on the flanks,” Fonseca told Sky Sport Italia.
“We must defend well so that we have the chance to attack well too. A victory brings important points and reduces the distance from the top of the table, it brings a lot of confidence for the future. So the important thing today is to get a good result and hopefully a victory.”

USMNT player Musah returns in that hybrid role between attack and midfield, which allows him to protect the right flank in a 4-2-3-1 formation.
“Since we’ve started with Musah, we have found more balance and defensive security, but we are also more aggressive,” confirmed Fonseca.
“He has been important and we hope he can continue to play this well, especially in his defensive duties.”
The presence of Musah also allows Christian Pulisic, his fellow United States of America international, to play in a more central trequartista role behind striker Alvaro Morata.
They have a big European fixture coming up against Crvena Zvezda, but there is no room for squad rotation tonight against on-form Atalanta.
