Folarin Balogun is set to complete a switch to represent the USMNT after Fifa confirmed to the Athletic that they have approved the switch.
An England U21 regular, Balogun is currently on loan at Reims from Arsenal and has scored 19 times in Ligue 1 this season.
The 21-year-old was raised in London but was actually born in Brooklyn, New York, before his parents emigrated with him when he was two.
The striker represented England at U17 level but played four times for the USA’s U18 team in 2018 before switching back to continue to play for England’s youth teams.
Balogun’s strong form this season has him linked with a move away from Arsenal, with the forward reportedly reluctant to return to north London without guaranteed playing time.
