England will lock horns with Wales at the Ahmad bin Ali Stadium on Tuesday night hoping to pick up a positive result and secure a place in the knockout stages of the World Cup campaign. The Three Lions will be coming into the match on the back of a 0-0 stalemate with the USA whereas Rob Page’s men recorded a 2-0 loss to Iran.

Gareth Southgate will probably opt for the 4-3-3 formation; however, he might make a couple of changes for the upcoming fixture as Phil Foden looks likely to make his way back into the starting eleven.

Defence

Jordan Pickford is expected to start in goal for the upcoming encounter. The Everton shot-stopper would be looking to put up a strong performance and add to his tally of clean sheets on Tuesday.

Harry Maguire will continue to form the centre-half partnership with John Stones at the heart of England’s backline.

Kyle Walker is a guaranteed starter at the right-back position, whereas Luke Shaw will continue to feature as the left-back. The duo would be expected to stay compact and keep their shape defensively.

Kieran Tripper will have to settle for a place on the bench but could be brought on in the latter stages of the game if needed.

Harry Kane

Midfield

Jude Bellingham is expected to start in the central midfield position whereas Declan Rice will slot in as the defensive midfielder. The duo would be determined to put up a strong performance and dominate the midfield proceedings against Wales on Tuesday.

Mason Mount remains a sure-fire starter this week and it’ll be an understatement to say The Three Lions will be highly dependent on the Chelsea star’s creative work if they wish to pick up a positive result.

Jack Grealish could be introduced in the second forty-five minutes of the match.

Attack

Phil Foden and Raheem Sterling will take up the wide positions, playing on the left and right wing respectively.

Harry Kane is expected to lead the line for England. The 29-year-old striker would hope to find the back of the net when he faces off against the Welsh defence that has conceded three goals in their last two matches.

Bukayo Saka and Marcus Rashford will have to settle for a place on the bench but they could come on in the second half of the match if needed.
