Manchester City faced off against Peterborough United at the Weston Homes Stadium earlier tonight as they focused on earning a positive result on the road. Man City dominated the game in the first 45 minutes but were unable to break the opposition down as they went into the half-time break with a goalless scoreline.

Riyad Mahrez finally broke the deadlock in the 60th minute with a great finish. Jack Grealish doubled Man City’s advantage just seven minutes later when he found the back of the net with a tidy finish. The contest ended with Pep Guardiola’s men earning a comfortable 2-0 win which ensured their place in the next round of the FA Cup.

GK: Ederson – 7.5/10

The Brazilian keeper made a few solid saves during the game and secured an impressive clean sheet away from home.

RB: Joao Cancelo – 7.5/10

The Portuguese right-back made a few promising runs with the ball down the right flank and was solid when defending inside his half.

CB: Ruben Dias – 6.5/10

He kept a solid shape at the back in the first half and got replaced at half-time.

CB: Nathan Ake – 6.5/10

Ake made an important block but could last only 45 minutes.

LB: Oleksandr Zinchenko – 7.5/10

The Ukrainian left-back got stuck in with plenty of crunching tackles and earned the ball back a couple of times as well. He was quite lively going forward.

CM: Phil Foden – 9/10

Foden’s clever movement and creativity caused all sorts of problems for the Peterborough defenders. He ended the game with two assists to his name.

CM: Fernandinho – 7/10

The Brazilian midfielder protected his backline well and made two good chances in the final third.

CM: Ilkay Gundogan – 7.5/10

Gundogan made a few promising runs with the ball and engineered some inviting chances in the attacking end of the field.

RW: Riyad Mahrez – 8/10

Mahrez caused all kinds of headaches for the opposition and opened the goal-scoring at the hour mark with a good finish.

ST: Gabriel Jesus – 7/10

He was always willing to have a strike at goal and made a couple of clever runs as well. However, there was no goal for him tonight.

LW: Jack Grealish – 8/10

Grealish created a lot of decent goal-scoring opportunities for his teammates and scored his team’s second goal in the 67th minute.

Laporte dealt with mostly everything that came his way defensively and managed to secure a clean sheet in the second half.
