Paris Saint-Germain could be crowned Champions this weekend! A ninth title in 11 seasons would be enough to make most clubs the happiest of places, but the mood is currently far from jovial at the Parc des Princes!

PSG's demolition of Ajaccio last weekend took place in a bizarre atmosphere. Lionel Messi made his first appearance since his unsanctioned business trip to Saudi Arabia, and despite the hard-core ultra fan group boycotting the game, some have not forgiven Messi for his faux-pas. The Argentine was jeered by a number of fans every time he touched the ball, only for another group of spectators to drown out the boos with applause… a positively weird atmosphere… "Leo didn't let it get to him, he remained very focused and gave his all," PSG boss Christophe Galtier told the Ligue 1 Show on beIN SPORTS. "There were jeers, yes, but there was also plenty of applause every time he completed a pass or went past a man!"

With his own future at the club also shrouded in uncertainty, Neymar was in attendance a few days after a group of apparent supporters went to his house to call for an end to his Parisian adventure. On the pitch, Neymar's team-mates managed a reassuring 5-0 win after suffering losses in three of their last four home games. The win followed on from a more convincing performance in Troyes after uninspired outings against Angers and Lorient.

"I think these players want to be champions… they are competitors," explained Galtier. "Over the past two weeks I've seen a lot of focus, of will. It all showed in that performance." As well as keeping their first clean sheet on home turf since January, PSG also recorded their best result since the World Cup break. Mbappé at the heart

Two of their goals were netted by Kylian Mbappé who, with 26 goals to his name, leads the scoring charts and is on course to match Jean-Pierre Papin and become just the second man to win the golden boot winner in five consecutive campaigns. "Like the rest of the team, he wants to help the club lift an 11th title, but he also his personal objectives," noted Galtier. "He knows there are players capable of scoring goals in this league and he is determined to be the top scorer for a fifth consecutive year! It's great for him, and also for us." Though the current situation is a tense one, and a summer of much change is around the corner, PSG just have to hang on in their last three games. And they can take solace from the fact that, against these three sides - Auxerre, Strasbourg and Clermont - Mbappé and co scored a total of 13 goals in the reverse fixtures. The title is very much within touching distance... but peace and calm still seem a long way away!
