The Eagles kicked off their penultimate week of training before the winter break with an intensive session. Sebastian Rode worked individually and Oliver Glasner discussed his plans.

After undergoing performance tests at the end of last week, Oliver Glasner’s charges enjoyed a free weekend before resuming training on Monday. Apart from the players currently on international duty, Sebastian Rode was the only first-team member absent from the training pitch. Instead, he completed an individual session and will return to full training with the team in January.

The focus of the day’s session was primarily on pressing and defensive work. “We’re mainly working on our defensive shape over these next two weeks,” explained Glasner. “Apart from Kristijan Jakic we’ve got everyone here that we need for that.”

The head coach also discussed the importance of the drills for the players who have not had much playing time in recent weeks: “The boys need exactly these kinds of sessions in order to get to grips with the movement patterns and to find their rhythm. We’ve got time for that now.” There was a special word of praise for Aurélio Buta too: “That was his best training session.”

Over the coming days, Eintracht will hold one session per day with a similar focus. At the end of the week they will face second-division side SV Sandhausen on Pitch 4 at Deutsche Bank Park (kick-off: 13:30 CET on Friday 2 December).
