Eight-time champions of France FC Nantes could well be on their way out of Ligue 1 Uber Eats in this cut-throat season of four relegations. Can Pierre Aristouy's men master their doubts and clinch a precious win away to LOSC on Saturday night? Interview.

Beaten 3-0 at home by Montpellier last time out, FC Nantes have now failed to win any of their previous 13 league games.

The fear

"Some players are devastated, some are scared… that's a problem," Les Canaris's coach Pierre Aristouy told the Ligue 1 Show on beIN SPORTS. "The ones who are feeling down will bounce back… but the ones who are scared… well they could be scared next weekend too."

Since losing 5-1 to Toulouse in the Coupe de France final, Nantes have lost three and drawn one… while failing to score a single goal.

'When you don't create a chance, you can't win a game'

"We're getting ourselves in trouble, losing the ball and exposing ourselves to counters… giving possession away when we need to be calm," admitted club captain Jean-Charles Castelletto. "The problems of this season are catching up with us now. When you don't create a chance, you can't win a game. We have to keep on fighting, though, because nothing is done yet."

Despite guiding Nantes to victory in the Coupe de France a year ago, Antoine Kombouaré was sacked last month. The appointment of the club's former youth team boss Pierre Aristouy has so far failed to stop the rot.

"We're struggling psychologically, and that's preventing us from playing," said the new Nantes boss. "We lack the confidence you need to give you all and play with precision." Remobilise

Nantes have just 33 points. Even if they win their last two games, this will be their lowest tally since returning to the top tier in 2013. And if they keep losing, they will be relegated regardless. Yes, they need Auxerre to slip up, but above all they need to revive their own fortunes. "We're still one point behind," said Aristouy. "So it's futile looking at Auxerre's games, if we don't win a game ourselves."

FC NANTES - STADE BRESTOIS 29 (4-1) / Highlights (FCN - SB29) 2022/2023

The eight-time Champions of France have claimed just six victories all season… the lowest season win tally in club history. Before hosting bottom side Angers in their last match of the season, Nantes travel to fifth-placed Lille. The challenge is considerable, and a defeat could well see them relegated on Saturday night, 11 years after their last season in Ligue 2 BKT.
