The visitors were the more dangerous side in a scrappy first half at BORUSSIA-PARK, but it was Borussia who took the lead after 34 minutes. Ngoumou cut inside on his left and found the bottom corner to score his first Bundesliga goal. Svanberg had a great chance to equalise for the Wolves at the start of the second half, only to be denied strongly by Omlin. Borussia pushed forward in search of a second goal and got it via a Thuram header in the 63rd minute. Farke’s men held on to break their winless run of five games.

Yvandro Borges Sanches (ankle injury) and Tony Jantschke (lack of training after torn meniscus) were both unavailable. Manu Koné also missed out after picking up his 10th yellow card of the season last time out. Julian Weigl made the bench for the first time after partially rupturing his syndesmosis ligament.

FIRST-HALF HIGHLIGHTS

10’: Wolfsburg break quickly after winning the ball back in midfield. Omar Marmoush is slipped in behind and coolly beats Omlin to find the back of the net. However, VAR advises referee Gerach to rule the goal out for offside and it remains 0-0.

21’: First chance for the Foals. Plea hits a low effort towards goal, Casteels is there to hold on easily.

32’: Stindl takes aim with a free-kick from around 20 yards out, however it hits the wall.

34’: Goal for Borussia! Casteels’ pass goes straight to Neuhaus and he quickly gives it to Thuram. He feeds Ngoumou on the right and Borussia’s number 19 cuts in onto his left and picks out the bottom corner for his first Bundesliga goal. 1-0 to Gladbach!

SECOND-HALF HIGHLIGHTS:

47’: Omlin keeps Borussia ahead! Kaminski’s solo run and pass to Svanberg puts the Wolves in a great position to equalise, but Omlin saves fantastically with his legs from close range.

63’: Goal for Borussia! Ngoumou’s cross from the right picks out Plea at the back post. He heads it towards the unmarked Thuram in the six-yard box and his strike partner nods in from a few yards out. 2-0 to Gladbach!

67’: A nice move from the Foals almost results in a third goal. Neuhaus chips it to Thuram and he then lays it off to the midfielder with his back to goal. Neuhaus hits it first time, just past the post.
