Sky Germany reports that Florian Wirtz wants to wear the number 10 shirt at Liverpool. It's a request that many saw coming.
Wirtz is, after all, a 'no.10' in style and it's his current squad number at Leverkusen. There's little to no question that he'd take the number if it was available at Liverpool.
Only, it isn't. Alexis Mac Allister wears no.10 and the Argentine may not want to give that up. After all, there's no number that comes close to 10 for Argentines.
We wonder where this one will go then. Liverpool will want to do all they can to agree terms with Wirtz and giving him a demand as 'simple' as this would be an easy way to win him over.
At the same time, they're not going to want to push Mac Allister, one of the Reds' best players, to one side for a new signing. It's a complicated one - though, we imagine it will be sorted relatively smoothly.
If Mac Allister doesn't want to give the number up, that will probably be that. It'll all depend on how attached he is.
But maybe it doesn't matter than much to him. Maybe it ultimately doesn't matter than much to Wirtz, either.
It is, though, another little wrinkle that must be smoothed out to make this massive move happen.
