Foot Mercato report this morning that free agent Florian Thauvin is the subject of interest from two clubs for a return to Europe, namely Olympiacos and Udinese.

With neither Lyon nor Marseille interested, Celta Vigo and Valencia had been considering an offer, as well as several MLS sides, but Thauvin has turned down several approaches from afar – with a return to Europe now on the cards

The former Marseille man saw his 18-month spell with the Monterrey outfit come to an abrupt end this month as his contract was unilaterally terminated, and the local press reported that he was refused entry to the club’s training ground, although a mutual agreement has ostensibly been found now.

The 30-year-old leaves Mexico having found the net eight times in 38 appearances, albeit struggling with injuries as he played alongside his compatriot André-Pierre Gignac. He had previously featured 281 times for Marseille, a spell punctuated by a brief foray into English football with Newcastle.
