Florian Thauvin (30) has reiterated his desire to return to Ligue 1 in this transfer window and hopes for a ‘Last Dance with Marseille.’

The forward who currently plays for Serie A side Udinese had previously made it known that he would be open to a move back to France, following an increasingly reduced role in the squad as they struggle against relegation.

However, in an interview with Le Media Carré that was transcribed by RMC Sport, Thauvin made his aims far clearer, ‘I miss Ligue 1. I love France. I love Ligue 1.’ However, it appears that the former World Cup winger would not accept just any move back to his home country. ‘I would like to return to Ligue 1 but it has to involve another championship, I will do what it takes to get back to the top.’

Thauvin hopes for one last reunion with Marseille

The player was clear in that his preference would be for a return to Olympique de Marseille, ‘I think everyone knows my attachment to Marseille and what it means to me. I spent fantastic years there.’ However, as reported previously, any move for the forward would be filled with complications.

Something that Thauvin seems to be well aware of, ‘it doesn’t just depend on me either, the coach has desires, the president has desires.’ Still, the prospect of the move clearly excites the player as he stated, ‘It’s true that doing ‘The Last Dance’ at Marseille could be something exceptional.’
