Foot Mercato are reporting that RC Lens are close to renewing the contract of striker Florian Sotoca (32), whose current deal expires at the end of next season.

Lens are currently riding high in Ligue 1. The club are second in France’s top flight and are exerting pressure on leaders Paris Saint-Germain. The club are also through to the round of 16 of the Coupe de France, and with PSG and Olympique de Marseille facing each other in the next round, there is a genuine possibility for Le Sang et Or to get their hands on silverware this year.

Their success has already allowed them to renew the contracts of Wesley Saïd and Facundo Medina, whilst Seko Fofana also extended his deal right at the beginning of the season. The scorer of six goals in 18 games, including a hat-trick against Stade Brestois, Sotoca is now the next in line for a new deal. His current deal expires in the summer of 2024, but according to Foot Mercato, discussions over a renewal are close to reaching a positive conclusion. Sotoca will extend for either an extra year or an extra two years. After concluding the extension, the club’s focus will then switch to extending Jonathan Gradit’s and Devier Machado’s deals.
