With Arsenal and Burnley both having won their opening games of the u18 Premier League Cup group stage, Saturday was an opportunity for one of the two to take a big step towards qualification.

A win would put either side three points clear at the top of the group with one game remaining. Only the team that finishes first in each group is guaranteed progressing to the knockout rounds.

Arsenal started well, with Marcelo Flores particularly involved in the early chances. Flores ended up getting his goal for 1-0 via the penalty spot, after James Sweet was felled in the area.

That was the scoreline at the break, and Arsenal appeared to be in control. But having won the penalty in the first half, Sweet then made an error in the early stages of the second for Burnley to level the scores.

Khayon Edwards and Flores have both been in excellent form this season, and they continued to put the pressure on Burnley to retake the lead.

But it was midweek hero Charles Sagoe Jr who ended up getting Arsenal back ahead, with a deflected effort that ended up going down as an own goal by Dan Sassi.

Burnley then really pushed for an equaliser in the latter stages of the game, and they ended up getting one through Tremaine Eastmond in the final five minutes.

The draw leaves Arsenal level with Burnley on four points, with one goal difference between them. As Burnley are the team marginally ahead, Arsenal need to better their result in the final group game to finish top.
