Rogério Ceni is still waiting for his first win as Flamengo manager after they were held to a draw by Atlético Goianiense at the Maracanã on Saturday.

Ceni was appointed in the wake of Domenec Torrent’s dismissal last Monday, but suffered a 2-1 defeat in a quarter-final first leg against São Paulo in the Copa do Brasil in midweek.

And the MengĂŁo were unable to deliver a win for their new boss on his league debut in charge.

Flamengo dominated the first half, with Thiago Maia and Bruno Henrique both testing Atlético goalkeeper Jean.

Those two players combined to open the scoring on the stroke of half time, Henrique racing onto a delicious through ball from Maia before firing a low left-footed effort into the bottom corner of the net.

But the hosts hit back just before the hour mark. ZĂ© Roberto won a header near midfield before timing his run perfectly to rejoin the attack and sidefoot home from inside the penalty area.

Flamengo were unable to produce a winner in the remaining half hour plus eight minutes of stoppage time, damaging their hopes of retaining the BrasileirĂŁo title in the process.

The Rubro-Negro have now slipped to fourth in the table, two points behind new leaders Atlético Mineiro after having played a game more.
